 The ambassadors of Brazil and Argentina, Jorge Taunai and Dario Alessandro, recently pledged to cooperate with Peru to revive tourism to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, after the emergency in that area registered by the rains. The diplomats reaffirmed their position that Machu Picchu is always cultural heritage of mankind and one of the top tourist destinations in Latin America.
In an interview with national media, the ambassador of Argentina, said that overcoming the emergency, other countries in the region should preserve the cultural wealth of the continent.
He highlighted the work done by the Peruvian government to bail out nearly four thousand tourists in Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes) in three days and under extreme conditions, both by weather and by the narrowness of the flyover. The Brazilian ambassador also highlighted the work of the Peruvian authorities, both central government and regional levels in the rescue and safety of hundreds of people.
